The Man Behind the Furniture
The Man Behind the Furniture
Geoff believes in high quality craftsmanship. He likes to apply his skills learnt in a commercial setting to small, personal projects. His work always has a story and history, for example a recent project involved turning a piece of boat decking into a dining table.
Every creation is imagined with the client, and then carefully built by Geoff in his Whakapara workshop. The first step is always to meet with clients and understand their vision. If you have a project that you would like to discuss, give Geoff a call.
Geoff Hewinson was thirteen when he purchased his first wooden lathe. He learnt the art of wood turning at Dargaville High school’s Wood Turners Club and then went on to work as an apprentice for Jack Guy Joinery.
Geoff was the ripe age of 21 when he was promoted to Factory Foreman. He remained at Jack Guy for 18 years, specialising in commercial projects and kitchens. He then went on to manufacture furniture and fittings for super yachts, which required a strong eye for detail and high quality workmanship.
Since 2006, Geoff has been self employed and gains immense satisfaction from creating bespoke furniture.
